"New Religion" is a Duran Duran song and the sixth track on their second album Rio.

About the song

The song is described in the Rio liner notes as "a dialogue between the ego and the alter-ego", which is reflected in the refrain, where two conflicting voices sing on top of each other.

Song versions

  • "New Religion" (5:32) - The standard version of the song.
  • "New Religion (Carnival Remix)" (5:13) - A completely different mix, which eliminates most of the vocals, first appeared on the Japanese edition of the Carnival EP.[1]
