The New England Free Jacks are a professional rugby union team, in Major League Rugby (MLR), from Boston, Massachusetts. They were founded in 2018 and their first season will be in 2020, along with Atlanta.
History
In the spring of 2018, Mystic River Rugby Club competed in a handful of MLR exhibition matches[1] against Rugby United New York and the Ontario Arrows as the Boston Mystics.
On September 21, 2018[2], Major League Rugby announced that two expansion teams, in Atlanta and Boston, will be joining the league for the 2020 season. It was later announced, that same day, that the Boston club would be known as the New England Free Jacks through social media. Their first match will be on October 20, 2018 as they take on the Ontario Arrows at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
