Navy of Palestine

The Navy of Palestine is a branch of the Palestinian National Security Forces whose task includes securing the coastline of the Gaza Strip. It is called the Palestinian Naval Police. Under the Oslo II Accord, the activities of the Palestinian Naval Police are restricted to 6 nautial miles from the coast.[1]

Overview

More broadly, it may refer to the various realms of Palestinians that have conducted military operations on the coasts of the historic regions of Palestine. Analysis on independent Palestinian sea operations are usually discussed within the context of final status agreements during peace negotiations with Israel.[2] Since the declaration of the State of Palestine, most sources that mention the term refer to only the coastal regions along the Gaza Strip.[3]
