Nathan Crawford Barnett

Nathan Crawford Barnett (June 28, 1801 - 1890) was a state legislator and long serving Secretary of State in the U.S. State of Georgia. He hid the state seal and official documents before the arrival of General Sherman during the American Civil War. Toward the end of his decades of service as secretary of state under numerous administrations and into his 80s, he was said to wear a row of three pairs of glasses. He was a Methodist.[1]
