Nandini Shankar (born 1993) is an Indian violinist who performs Hindustani Classical Music and Fusion. She is the daughter of Dr. Sangeeta Shankar[1] and granddaughter of the renowned Padmabhushan Dr. N. Rajam.[2]

Early life

She began her training at the age of 3 and gave her first public performance as an 8 year old. She gave her first full-fledged solo performance in the age of 13.[3] She plays violin in the Gayaki Ang.

Education

Nandini Shankar has excelled in academics. She has completed her graduation in commerce, and is a qualified Indian Chartered Accountant (ICAI). She has also completed her M.A. in Music.

Performing career

She has performed in the prestigious Carnegie Hall [4] in the year 2016.

She has travelled the globe for her performances in countries like USA,[4] Canada,[5] New Zealand[6] , UK[7], France, Germany, Belgium,[5] Netherlands,[8] Hungary, UAE,[9] Bangladesh,[10] Malaysia[11], Sri Lanka, Indonesia[12] and Singapore.[13] She has performed in various prestigious festivals like the Europalia,[5] Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival,[14] [15] [16] Yaksha (festival),[17] Saptak Festival of Music,[18] Aarohi for Pancham Nishad,[19] ITC SRA Sangeet Sammelan,[20] MERU in Netherlands,[8] Jaya Smriti organised by Hema Malini,[21] Temple of Fine Arts,[11] Bhilwara Sur Sangam,[22] The Association of Performing Arts of India,[23] T. N. Krishnan Foundation,[24] Delhi International Arts Festival,[25] Bengal Music Foundation,[10] Dover Lane Music Conference[26] and also been telecast in Idea Jalsa.[27] She also has a music video with her sister Ragini Shankar.[28]

She is a part of Sakhi, India's first ever all-girl Indian classical musical band, formed by Kaushiki Chakraborty.[29] She is also a part of 'inStrings', a fusion band combining various genres from across the world.

She currently resides in Mumbai.
