Nakhla (Saudi Arabia)

Nakhla is an area in Saudi Arabia between Mecca and Ta'if. During the era of the Islamic prophet Muhammad a military operation was carried out here. It was the first successful Muslim military operation known as the Nakhla Raid.[1][2]

The Nakhla Raid was the seventh Caravan Raid and the first successful raid against the Meccans. Abdullah ibn Jahsh was the Commander.[2] [3]

It took place in Rajab 2 A.H., i.e. January 624 C.E. Muhammad despatched ‘Abdullah bin Jahsh Asadi to Nakhlah at the head of 12 Emigrants with six camels.[4][5][6][7]
