NGC 3981 is a spiral galaxy located 62 million light-years away[4] in the constellation of Crater.[5] It was discovered on February 7, 1785 by William Herschel.[6]

NGC 3981 is a member of the NGC 4038 Group[7][8][9][10] which is part of the Virgo Supercluster.[8][11]
