Néstor Alejandro Araujo Razo (born 29 August 1991) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Celta de Vigo and the Mexico national team.
A Mexican international since his debut in 2011, he has represented Mexico at the 2011 Copa America, Copa America Centenario, and the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. He was also an Olympic gold medalist at 2012 Summer Olympics.[2]
Club career
Youth career
Araujo joined Cruz Azul's youth academy in 2007. He continued through Cruz Azul Youth Academy successfully going through Cruz Azul Premier and U-20. Until finally reaching the first team, Enrique Meza was the coach that promoted Araujo to the first team.[3]
Cruz Azul
Araujo made his Primera Division debut for Cruz Azul in September 2010.[4] He had been with the club for five years before breaking into the first team, and he played 90 minutes in the 3–0 home victory against Querétaro.[5]
Santos Laguna
On 5 June 2013 he was loaned out to Santos Laguna as part of the Draft 2013.
Celta de Vigo
On 14 June 2018, Araujo joined Spanish outfit Celta de Vigo on a five-year contract.[6]
International career
He received his first international call up in 2011 during the 2011 Copa America. In his international debut, he scored in a 2–1 loss against Chile during their first group stage match. He would go on to appear in the rest of the group stage matches and Mexico would end up last in the group. He would not be called up again until 2016.
He would be an international regular under Juan Carlos Osorio, participating in various friendlies, the CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Copa America Centenario, and the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
In May 2018 he was named in Mexico’s preliminary 28-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but had to withdraw due to experiencing tendonitis during his injury recovery.[7][8]

Araujo has an older brother, Félix, is also a defender who currently plays for Jaguares de Chiapas.[11]
