History

Bekins was founded in 1891[12] when moving was performed using a horse and carriage. Bekins was one of the first moving company names to utilize a motor van and do away with horse-powered moving carriages. The first transcontinental motor van move was completed by a Bekins van in 1928.[13] The Caruso family who founded Ace Moving & Storage in 1936 would become part of Bekins in 1995 when both companies merged to create Bekins A-1. David Caruso is currently a Bekins board member and president of Bekins A-1 Movers.[14] In 1996, Bekins was the first van line to earn Certified Professional Mover status, as granted by AMSA.[15] Since the late 1990s, Bekins has continued to expand, opening several branches all over Nevada, California, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, and Arizona.

MyBekins has 21 branches that cover a wide range of the United States. MyBekins has a fleet of 600 trucks, professional employees, company-owned buildings, and storage warehouses.[16] Aside from straight moving, MyBekins has made a focus to offer a wide range of storage, packing, and logistical services. MyBekins has had continual positive reviews on sites such as Yelp,[17] and Epinions.[18] To continue to improve the technical components of moving, Bekins A-1 jumped at th chance to work with Moveline,[19] a company that aims to improve moving services across the country.[20] MyBekins has completed several infamous moves such as the Port of Long Beach headquarters[21] and the Seahawks' Super Bowl equipment.[22]
