Multia is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Central Finland region. The municipality has a population of 1,644 (31 August 2017)[2] and covers an area of 765.63 square kilometres (295.61 sq mi) of which 32.37 km2 (12.50 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 2.24 inhabitants per square kilometre (5.8/sq mi).
Neighbouring municipalities are Keuruu, Petäjävesi, Saarijärvi, Uurainen and Ähtäri.
The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The municipality has previously also been known as "Muldia" in Swedish documents, but is today referred to as "Multia" also in Swedish.[6]
Nature
There are all together 146 lakes in Multia. Biggest lakes in Multia are Sinervä, Tarhapäänjärvi and Sahrajärvi-Pienvesi.[7]
