Molly Irene Samuel-Leport MBE (born 12 September 1961, London, England) is a British karateka.[2] She has a 6th Dan black belt in karate and is the winner of multiple European Karate Championships. Samuel-Leport received the 1989 Sunday Times International Sports Woman of the Year and 1987 Jamaican Jubliee Award for Excellence.[3][4]

She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to karate.[5][6]

Political Activity

Samuel-Leport was the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Walthamstow in the 2015 general election. She gauged 5,584 votes which was 13.4% of the overall vote. This was the first time the Conservatives had finished in second place since 2001.[7]

At the 2017 General Election, Molly was selected again to contest the seat. Finishing the runner up, Molly polled 6,776 votes, an increase of 1,200 votes, which was 14.1% of the overall vote.

Shes previously an unsuccessful candidate in the Leytonstone ward of Waltham Forest council at the 2014 election.[8]
