The village is also known as Poorana ("Old") Mohra Malkan. It is located approximately 2 km from Dadyal City; on the edge of Mangla Dam and next to the ruins/remains of Old Dadyal City. History
The name of the village in the local Pahari language means "place of the maliks (chiefs)" who were the inhabitants of Mohra Malkan before 1967.
After the first impounding of Mangla Dam in 1967, the old inhabitants of the village, Maliks relocated in the city of New Dadyal. The village was then populated by the Jatt refugees of the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War who had migrated from Distt Punch (Mehnder Tehsil) of Indian Administered Kashmir. For this reason the village is sometimes known as Poorana (Old) Mohra Malkan. These people still inhabit the village, through the majority of them shifted to Chamb, Khairowal Jattan (Iftikhar Abad), Distt Bhimber in 1974 where they were allotted agricultural land (64 kanals per family).
