"Mississippi", is a song co-written and performed by the Charlie Daniels Band. It was released in September 1979 as the second single from their album Million Mile Reflections.[1] It peaked at number 19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and at number 3 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. It was noted as one of the "1980 Most Performed Songs of the Year" by the BMI Awards.[2] Robert Christgau described it as a "sentimental reminiscence."[3]
