Miss Granny is a 2018 Philippine comedy-drama film based on the South Korean film of the same name. It is directed by Joyce Bernal and stars Sarah Geronimo, James Reid, Xian Lim, and Nova Villa. It was released by Viva Films on August 22, 2018.[1][2][3][4]

Plot

The story is about Feliza "Fely" Malabaño (Nova Villa) a widow who works in a carinderia along with Bert (Boboy Garovillo), who grew up working for Fely since he was a young boy. She is always ridiculed by Lulu (Marissa Delgado) due to her closeness to Bert. Fely tends to mistreat her daughter in-law Angie (Lotlot De Leon) for many things, including the sinigang dish she had made. Despite this, she is caring towards her son Ramoncito (Nonie Buencamino) and her grandchildren, Jeboy (James Reid) and Hana (Ataska Mercado).

One day, Angie collapses due to stress which she blames on her mother-in-law. To respond to the recommendation of the doctor to keep her stress-free, Ramon suggests that Fely stay in the nursing home. Overhearing the family's discussion, Fely became upset but was contacted by Jeboy to meet for dinner. As she was leaving to meet him, she comes across the Forever Young Photo Studio and meets the mysterious photographer (Jojit Lorenzo) who took a camera shot of her. As she enters the bus to scold three passengers for their noise, to her surprise while she looked on the sunglasses lens that she took from one of the passengers, she was horrified to see that she was transformed to her younger self (Sarah Geronimo). She later poses herself as Odrey De Leon while she temporary stays at the apartment which was owned by Bert. She helped her grandson Jeboy and his bandmates by becoming the vocalist of the band by changing their genre from heavy metal to romantic.

Her performance was discovered by Lorenz (Xian Lim) in the carinderia that she owned. Her songs during her performance reflected her past where she was left behind by her husband, a Navy sailor who died in service, and left for Manila to fend for herself and her son Ramoncito in the streets. She was soon helped by someone when her son was now in the brink of death due to his illness.

Her identity was soon discovered by Bert after finding out about the false teeth he gave to her as a gift and her old clothes when he and her son Ramoncito were currently searching for her whereabouts.

After Lulu's death, Audrey realized about the current situation of their lives as an elderly. After she got minor cut on her foot before their taping with Lorenz, Bert discovers her youthful skin became wrinkled which is a sign to reverse back to her old self while treating her wounds before his daughter Minnie (Kim Molina) forced her to leave the apartment thinking she was romantically involved with her father. She stays at Lorenz' place where Lorenz reveals his interest of retro music. When Jeboy was upset about Lorenz, Audrey noticed his interest on her which is why he was jealous at Lorenz. She rejects him knowing they were not compatible due to both being family related which Jeboy still didn't know.

During the Summerslam Concert, Lorenz informs them that Jeboy was taken to the hospital after he got hit by a owner type jeep while he was on his way to the concert. Audrey refuses, and she finally performs with the band with Jeboy's absence. At the hospital with Bert and Ramoncito, who has finally known her identity, she decides to donate the blood for Jeboy despite the reminder of Bert about the effects of doing so. Ramoncito gave her the choice to leave and live the life that she wanted, on the condition that she doesn't repeat all the difficulties that she endured in the past such as the early death of a husband, a life in the street and having a bad son like him. Fely tells him that she will always choose the life she had lived and that included being his mother before sharing a heartfelt hug. After this, Fely finally donates her blood to save her grandson during the head surgery and she transforms back to her old self.

After Jeboy's recovery, Fely and her family watch her grandson's concert with Hana as the new vocalist replacing her. At some point after this, she was fetched by a guy in a motorcycle (Sam Concepcion) who turned out to be Bert after he transformed to his younger self by the mysterious photographer when he visited the Forever Young Photo Studio. He gives her a bouquet of flowers and she and Bert finally rides away.
