Miroslav Stevanović (Bosnian pronunciation: [mîroslaʋ steʋǎːnoʋitɕ, mǐ-]; born 29 July 1990) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Swiss Challenge League club Servette and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Club career

Stevanović started playing in the local side Drina Zvornik.[3] Then he moved to Serbia and played with the youth teams of Vojvodina. He made his senior debut in professional football in 2009 when he was loaned to Palić in one of Serbia's lower leagues.[4] He was afterwards loaned to Bosnian Premier League club Borac Banja Luka.[5] After these loan spells, he finally got a chance in Vojvodina. His constant fine performances in both the club and the national team got him "Sports Person of the Year" award from the municipality of Zvornik for the year of 2011.[6]

On 2 January 2013, Stevanović, aged 22 at the time, signed a five-year contract with La Liga side Sevilla.[7] Upon arrival at San Pablo International Airport, he was received by fellow countryman Emir Spahić, who was also playing for Sevilla at the time, as well as the delegate of the first team, Juan Martagon.[8] On 9 January 2013, he made his debut in a Copa del Rey match against Mallorca, playing the entire second half.[9]

On 5 July 2013, Stevanović was loaned to newly promoted Elche for one season.[10]

After unsuccessful loan spell at Elche, he was loaned to second league side Alavés.[11]

In August 2014, his contract with Sevilla was terminated.[12]

In December 2014, he signed a three-year contract with Hungarian club Győr,[13] but left the club in June 2015.[14]

In September 2015, Stevanović signed a one-year contract with Greek side Ergotelis.[15] He terminated his contract with the club on 30 December 2015.[16]

On 26 January 2016, he signed a two-year contract with Bosnian club Željezničar, aiming to revive his career.[17] After his performances for the club, Stevanović was voted as the Player of the Season for the 2016–17 season.[18] He also informed the club that he will not renew his contract, and will leave on a free transfer.[19]

In July 2017, Stevanović was signed to a three-year deal by Servette.[20]

International career

Stevanović has represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at youth level.[21]

He made his senior international debut in a friendly game against Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 26 May 2012.[22] On 15 August 2012, during a game against Wales, he scored a goal and assisted for another, earning praise and respect from the media and coach Safet Sušić.[23] Stevanović subsequently became a regular player in Bosnia and Herzegovina's qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, even being called "Safet Sušić's best move" by the national team's website.[24]
