Mine Blower is a hybrid wooden roller coaster located at Fun Spot America Kissimmee. Manufactured by The Gravity Group, the compact wooden roller coaster is only one of three in Florida; the other two are White Lightning at Fun Spot America Orlando and Coastersarous at Legoland Florida. Unique points in the ride include a zero-gravity roll above the station area, and a 115° overbanked turn. Mine Blower opened to the public on June 23, 2017.[1]
Ride experience
The ride starts with a mild 180° turn to the left, taking them straight to the lift hill. Riders can enjoy the view for approximately 23 slow seconds, before the ride hits another 180° turnaround to the left, and plunges just over 80 feet before hitting the one inversion. That takes it into the first high speed turnaround of many, this one left again, leading straight up an airtime hill thats followed by a "double down" of sorts, past another bunny hill, and into a right hand turnaround. Two more small hills follow, and then riders hit the high speed 115° overbanked turn to the right. A few more curvy airtime hills sprint the train towards a low lying, left hand turnaround, up another two last minute hills, and into the brake run.
Mine Blower is said to be a very wild ride despite it being such a compact coaster,[2] which is what The Gravity Group is well known for, especially in recent years.
Characteristics
Support structure
Mine Blower is one of the more recent Gravity Group wooden coasters to be built with a steel support structure that uncannily mimicked a regular wood structure. Other Gravity Group Coasters that have similar steel support structures are Oscar's Wacky Taxi and Switchback.
Trains
Mine Blower utilizes two custom themed Timberliner trains that seat 12 passengers each. The train front consists of a firework and dynamite figurehead. While one is running the track, the other is loading and unloading passengers.
Statistics
Mine Blower is 2,290 feet long, 83 feet high, and hits a top speed of 48.5 mph (78 kph). This is currently the longest, tallest, and fastest of the three operating wooden coasters in Florida.[3]
