The application has been used by several professional organisations.,[2] according to rankings on OpenSourceCMS.com[3] and Softaculous.[4] Professional developers can freely access the code, exchanging their knowledge and contributions with the rest of the open-source community.[5]

The site was launched in a Beta version in April 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria as a grass-roots project for an easy to use CMS system. The business has ranked as one of Bulgaria's Top 10 startups.[6] Microweber project is also in top 100 startup organizations in Europe for 2015/2017/2018, according to the WEBIT festival foundation[7]

Features

Live Edit –Content can be edited directly on a website's front-end, with no need for users to switch between the admin panel and the site in order to see how their content looks.[8]

Going "live" means working on a website's interface every time a user feels like it, changing the settings on modules and rearranging the elements as they wish. The Live Edit feature combines:

- Drag & Drop - manage content and arrange elements with just a click of the mouse, dragging and dropping them across the screen. Drag & Drop applies to all types of content.

- WYSIWYG HTML Editor - text and graphics can be edited in a form closely resembling its appearance when displayed as a finished product. Microweber also has an admin panel, so users can switch between different views depending on their preferences -
Online Shop - A full online store builder is included by default and comes for free, featuring built-in order managing and tracking, automatic order e-mails, easy checkout and flexible payment options

Statistics - Users can trace how their website, online shop or blog performs in real time. This tool can be used on its own or in combination with other analytics packages, such as Google Analytics

Templates – Custom design and custom templates to match user preferences and ways of sending a message across. Design change does not affect content in any way – the users' information remains untouched so they can achieve a smooth migration to their website’s new look. Open source means anyone is free to add templates – from software and web design companies to freelancers, professional developers, etc. The system allows contributors to sell their templates and gain financial benefit.
