Michio Suzuki (鈴木 道雄, Suzuki Michio) was a Japanese businessman and inventor, who founded the present multinational motor corporation Suzuki.[2] He began the company in October 1909, originally as the "Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Company".[1]

Suzuki harvested cotton as a child, and then became an apprentice for a loom manufacturer. Suzuki built a loom for his mother, and its design was faster than other looms of the time, when word spread, Suzuki started a loom business in 1909. In 1937, Suzuki built his first automobile.[3]
