Meyer Burger Technology AG is a worldwide operating mechanical engineering company based in Thun, Switzerland, with a focus on solar technologies.

History

The company was founded in 1953[4] as a producer of watch jewel manufacturing machines and later switched their focus on specialized saws in 1960.

In 1999 was the incorporation of Meyer & Burger Holding Ltd, incorporated in Zug, Switzerland, and had the Swiss market launch of the first band saw for the solar industry.

They founded subsidiaries in China and Japan in 2003, positioning the company in the Asian markets, because of the growing solar industry there.

The company renamed into Meyer Burger Technology AG, which is their name till today, and relocated their headquarters to Baar, Switzerland. In November 2007 they had their initial public offering at the SWX Swiss Exchange.

Meyer Burger had the groundbreaking ceremony of new headquarters building in Thun, Switzerland in 2011, which was finished one year later in 2012 and they moved in the same year.
