Mervat Amin (Arabic: ميرفت أمين; born November 24, 1948),[1] is an Egyptian actress.
Early life
She was born in Al Minya, Egypt. Her father is Egyptian and her mother Scottish. During the 1970s her mother was the Head of the Elementary School of El Nasr School Heliopolis, Egypt (formerly The English School, Cairo). Her father, Dr. Ahmad Amin, was the physician of the same institution.
Career
Amin's first fame came when she starred with Abdel Halim Hafez in his last film, Abi Foq El Chagara (My Father Is Up the Tree).[2]
From there she became one of the most successful Egyptian actors in the 1970s and early 1980s during which she starred in many Egyptian films.
Personal life
Mervat Amin was married four times. She was briefly married to Egyptian guitarist Omar Khorshid, and, following a divorce, was married to the famous Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy from 1974 to 1986, when the marriage ended in divorce. They had a daughter together.[2]
