Overview
Manufacturer Daimler AG
Production 1998 2007
Chronology
Predecessor Mercedes-Benz M119
Successor Mercedes-Benz M273, Mercedes-Benz M156 (most AMG applications), Mercedes-Benz M152 (SLK55 AMG)

The Mercedes-Benz M113 (and similar M155) engine is a gasoline-fueled, 4-stroke, spark-ignition internal-combustion V8 automobile piston engine family used in the 2000s (decade). It is based on the similar M112 V6 introduced in 1998, then later phased out in 2007 for the M156 AMG engine and the M273 engine.

The standard Mercedes-Benz M113s are built in Untertürkheim, Germany, while the AMG versions are assembled at AMG's Affalterbach, Germany plant. M113s have aluminum engine blocks and aluminum SOHC cylinder heads with two spark plugs per cylinder. The cylinders are lined with silicon/aluminum, and the heads have 3 valves per cylinder (two intake, one exhaust). Other features include SFI fuel injection, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft, and a magnesium intake manifold.

The Mercedes-Benz M113 engine is "emissions-oriented" version of the M119 engine.

M113 4.3

The M113 E43 is a 4.3 L (4266 cc) version. Bore is 89.9 mm and stroke is 84 mm. Output is 279 bhp at 5750 rpm with 295 ft·lbs (400 Nm) of torque at 3000 rpm. Output for the variant used in the C43 AMG is uprated to 302 bhp (225 kW) at 5850RPM and 302 ft⋅lbf (409 N⋅m) at 3250RPM.

Applications:

M113 5.0

The M113 5.0 is a 5.0 L (4966 cc) version bored to 97 mm and stroke is 84 mm. Output is 302 hp (306 PS, 225 kW) at 5600 rpm with 339 ft·lbf (460 Nm) of torque at 2700 to 4250 rpm. Active Cylinder Control variable displacement technology is optional.

Applications:

M113 5.4

The M113 5.4L is a 5.4 L (5439 cc) version with the same 97 mm bore as the M113 5.0 but with a longer 92 mm stroke developed by Mercedes-AMG. These cars were the first to carry the 55 AMG title. Output is 342 hp (255 kW) to 362 hp (270 kW) at 5500 rpm with 376 ft⋅lbf (510 N⋅m) to 391 ft·lbf (530 Nm) of torque at 2800-5400 rpm. Many popular tuners such as Kleemann USA, Amg Affalterbach developed supercharger systems for this model, mirroring the later M113K design. 400PS (396bhp) @ 5750 rpm and 520Nm (384lb-ft) @ 3750 rpm of torque in the SLK55 AMG Black Series.

Applications:

M113 5.4 Supercharged (Kompressor)

The M113 5.4L Supercharged is a supercharged and twin-intercooled version of the 5.4 L (5439 cc) M113 5.4. It is commonly referred to as "M113K" - where 'K' stands for Kompressor (supercharger). Output varies depending on year and model, from 469 hp for the E55 AMG at 6100 rpm to 582 hp in the 2004-2006 CLK DTM AMG, with 516 ft·lb(700 Nm) to 590 ft·lb(800 Nm) of torque at 2750-4000 rpm. Many Mercedes-AMG enthusiasts consider the M113K was the last of the great Kompressor engines used by Mercedes-AMG excluding the Mercedes SLR McLaren. Mercedes-AMG replaced this model with their new 6.2L N/A monster V8, making the transition from 55 AMG to the 63 AMG. Although the new 6.2L M156 AMG motor produced greater peak HP, many enthusiasts were disappointed by the lack of torque present in the new N/A design.

Applications:

M155 SLR

The M155 SLR is a version of the supercharged 5.4 L (5439 cc) M113 specifically for the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Output is 616 hp (460 kW) at 6500 rpm with 575 ft·lbf (780 N·m) of torque at 3250 rpm. An uprated version with 650 hp (478 kW) at 6500 rpm and 605 ft·lbf (820 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm is featured in the 722 edition.
