Meir Kalmanson, better known by his stage name Meir Kay, is an American internet personality best known for his Vlogs on YouTube,[1] which has amassed over 350 million views and his social media presence with upwards of one million followers.[2][3] He is known for his Vlogs, where he posts updates about obscure places, including a Bolivian mine and while rafting down the Amazon.[4][5]

Personal life

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Kalmanson was raised in New Haven, CT.[6] He began his career in March 2010 and uploaded his first YouTube video titled "Bubby Luba's Song”, inspired from his grandmother. He was encouraged by friends to continually upload videos to the site.[7] Kalmanson is seen posting videos of himself in his videos to showcase the acceptance, diversity, inclusion and self-expression.[8] His style of comedy leans towards storytelling, satire as well as social & societal norms.[9][10]

A Valuable Lesson For A Happier Life

It is one of his more popular videos has been viewed on Facebook more than 260 million times.[11] In this video, A professor was seen in a class, giving a management lesson to the students about living a happy life by spending time on the important things of life. He was seen with a jar, where he first filled golf balls, followed pebbles than by filling with sand and finally poured beer. After filling jar with each element, he was asking his student, Is the jar full and than he filled with the other element to connect with a management lesson of living a happy life by spending time on the important things of life. This video was uploaded on 14 December 2016 and has been translated into 6 languages. During an interview, Meir has said that his goal is to spread happiness, positivity and inspiration through the videos that he creates.[12]

Kids decide between helping the Homeless or Ice Cream

In this video, Kalmanson was seen in an ice cream van and gave children a dollar to observe how they went about spending it. This video was uploaded on May 27, 2015, and currently has almost 10.5 million views. This video was noticed by several media houses seeing kids giving money to homeless instead of buying ice cream for themselves.[13]

The Most Generous Boy In The World!

His video "The Most Generous Boy In The World!" was posted on May 16, 2017, and currently has over 5 million views. It features Kalmanson playing waiter in a food chain, where a kid comes with limited money and couldn’t order what he wanted. He orders an ice cream and left a thank you note with the tip.[14]

High Five New York

His video "High Five New York" was posted on September 14, 2014, and was most noticed video of Kalmanson. He was seen giving a High Five to the people stuck out their hands to wave down a taxi in New York City.[15][16][17]
