Medical surgical nursing certification
Medical-surgical nurses must meet certain eligibility requirements along with passing a multiple choice exam may gain certification.The exam takes three hours and it has 150 multiple choice questions [1]
Medical-surgical nursing certification (and recertification) is offered by two organizations in the US:
- The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB), a partner of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) an organization that exists to establish credentialing mechanisms for validating proficiency in medical-surgical nursing
- MSNCB was founded by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), a specialty nursing organization for medical-surgical nurses. MSNCB partners with AMSN to provide an array of programs and services for professional development. The earned credential is Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN).[2]
