Maugis of Avranches

Maugis was bishop of Avranches from c.1017-1022. Apparently, he initiated the construction of the cathedral on 1125. [1] He appears as witness in 10 charters, and Richard Allen notes that they show the growing coherence of the Norman episcopate, since many bishops subscribe most of them. [2] He died c.1026.
