Matthieu P. Bucaille is the Chief Executive Officer of Lazard International and CEO of Cie Financière Lazard Frères and of Lazard Frères Banque since October 1, 2017.[1]

Career

Bucaille joined Lazard in Paris in 1989.[1] He was made a managing director in 1998, became a member of the European Financial Advisory Board in 2005 and in 2008 was appointed Vice Chairman of European Investment Banking.[2][3] Bucaille was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Lazard in 2010, when Kenneth Jacobs replaced Bruce Wasserstein as Chairman and CEO of Lazard. Bucaille’s appointment made him the only French executive officer of the firm, which was controlled by French families through most of its history before Wasserstein's tenure.[4][5] As CFO, Bucaille focused on setting up financial goals for the firm, cost reduction programs and capital management guidelines.[6][7]

At Lazard, he has been an active investment banker, advising clients on M&A transactions including the Gaz de France/Suez merger and cross border transactions involving Europe and the US.[8]

Education

Bucaille graduated from ESSEC Business School and earned an MBA with a focus on Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of Business.[3]

Philanthropy

Bucaille is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lycée Français of New York, chaired its Finance Committee and a Member of the Board of Directors of the French American Foundation.[9][10]
