Matt Barr (born September 12, 1987) is a former American football quarterback for the Western Illinois Leathernecks football team. He was the team captain in both 2009 and 2010.[1] During the 2010 season, Barr threw for 3,410 yards 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 13 games. He also ran for 675 yards and 7 touchdowns.[2] Following the season, Barr was named as one of the three finalists for the 2010 Walter Payton Award, given annually to the top player in NCAA Division I Football Championship Series (Division I-AA).[3] He finished as the runner-up for the Payton Award and was named the offensive player of the year in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.[4]

Barr was born in Belvidere, Illinois and attended Belvidere High School. His major at Western Illinois is accounting.[5]
