Matheus & Kauan is a Brazilian singer duo of the sertanejo/pop formed by the brothers Matheus Aleixo Pinto (October 4, 1994) and Kauan Osvaldo Pinto Rosa (December 7, 1988), both born in Itapuranga in the state of Goiás: in the center of Brazil. Since 2010 the duo have recorded with big names of the Brazilian style before they became widely known.[1] But they become prominent in 2015, the year that the song "Que Sorte a Nossa" was released, which literally really very high the knowledge of the general public. The song was one of the most played of that year with over 200 million views on Youtube. Music that was first interpreted by Paula Mattos, but becoming hit in the voices of Matheus & Kauan.[2][3]

The duo who are also composers had their lyrics sung by other famous singers of the sertanejo like "Tudo que você quiser" by Luan Santana, "Se Tudo Fosse Fácil" (Michel Teló) and "Coisas de quem Ama" (Jorge & Mateus).[4] With almost 5 million followers in Spotify is the duo with the highest number of monthly listeners consequently, surpassing Gusttavo Lima and Jorge & Mateus.[5] The hit "Ao vivo e a Cores" with participation from Anitta broke the record at Spotify for almost two months leading the audio platform in Brazil.[6]

History

Kauan, the older brother sang with his father in the Church. His mother took him to participate in contests in the region where they lived. What already attracted the attention of the younger brother, Matheus. The family was shaken with the death of the father, but when he completed 10 years his mother released for he one CD of four tracks of sertanejas songs interpreted by the son. At the age of 15 he had already recorded another album but still had no definite partner. When he was older, he went to the United States and when he returned he formed a pair with his brother Matheus, who was singing, and had already been composer. In 2012 the brothers sang together releasing the album "Paraquedas" by Audio-mix even whereas having to counting on the sale of the family car. The following year was released "Mundo Parelelo", "Face to Face" in 2015 and "Na Praia" in 2016. Only with these albums did the duo succeed with "Que Sorte a Nossa": music that marked his career, "Nessas Horas" , "Te Assumi pro Brasil" and "Nosso Santo Bateu" from a romantic rhythm to an electronic touch.[4] The duo was formally presented in 2010 at the Caldas Country Festival.[3]

The duo has a lot of hits that are successful in Brazil along with other renowned artists. Until 2018 they were only six albums, but of high repercussion. All the albums are live, none of them were recorded in the studio.[5]

Awards and nominations

The duo has already won several platinum disks and others. As in the album "Praia" and "Praia 2".[7] The album "Intensamente Hoje!" also acquire the platinum certificate.[8] The single "Ao vivo e a Cores" yielded to duo as well as the singer Anitta who participated in the song the gold record, for Universal Music the brothers sold over 40 thousand copies and the feat has more than 157 billion views.[9] The pair was nominated in the Multishow Brazilian Music Award in the Experiente category[10], in the Internet Trophy as best duoof the Brazilian TV channel, SBT[11] and in My Awards Nick[12], although it did not win any of them.
