Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Francis Noel Mans KCB CBE DL (born 1955) is a senior British Army officer, who served as Adjutant-General to the Forces of the United Kingdom.
Military career
Educated at Berkhamsted School,[1] Mark Mans was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1974.[2] During the Gulf War he was Officer Commanding 37 Field Support Squadron.[3] He was later deployed in Bosnia.[4] In February 2005 he became Deputy Commanding General of the Multi-National Force – Iraq.[5]
He served as Deputy Adjutant General,[6] taking up that appointment in 2006, before becoming Military Secretary in March 2008.[4] In September 2009 he was appointed Commander of Regional Forces at Land Command.[4] Then in December 2009 he was made Adjutant-General to the Forces with responsibility for both personnel and support.[7]
He was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in 1996,[8] appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2005 Birthday Honours,[9] and awarded the American Legion of Merit in December 2006.[10] He was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) in the 2012 New Year Honours.[11][12]
Mans was appointed the Chief Royal Engineer on 14 September 2013.[13]
