Margaret Greenwood MP (born 14 March 1959) is a British Labour Party politician. She was first elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wirral West in May 2015[1] and retained her seat in the 2017 general election.[2]

A former teacher and community activist,[3] Greenwood later worked as a web consultant.[4] She is a founder member of Defend our NHS.[4]

She was selected to contest the constituency of Wirral West in the 2015 general election in 2013.[4]

In March 2018 Greenwood began acting as Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions after Debbie Abrahams temporarily stepped aside. This means Greenwood will be shadowing Esther McVey, the previous MP for Wirral West.[5]
