Marcel Sabitzer (born 17 March 1994) is an Austrian footballer who plays for RB Leipzig.

He is a son of former Austria international Herfried Sabitzer.

Club career

Admira Wacker Mödling

Sabitzer played for Admira Wacker Mödling between September 2010 and January 2013.[1] He scored two goals in eight appearances during the 2010–11 Austrian Bundesliga.[2]

Rapid Wien

He was then at Rapid Wien between January 2013 and June 2014.[1]

RB Leipzig

Loan to Red Bull Salzburg

On 30 May 2014, he signed a four-year contract with RB Leipzig, and was loaned for a season to FC Red Bull Salzburg.[3] On 1 April 2016, Sabitzer extended his contract until 2021.[4]

Return to RB Leipzig

Sabitzer returned to RB Leipzig for the 2015–16 season.[2] He scored eight goals in 34 appearances.[5]

He finished the 2016–17 season with nine goals in 33 appearances.[6]

He finished the 2017–18 season with five goals in 34 appearances.[7]

International career

Sabitzer made his debut for Austria on 5 June 2012, in a goalless draw against Romania.
