Marc Cardona Rovira (born 8 July 1995) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for SD Eibar on loan from FC Barcelona as a striker.

Club career

Born in Lleida, Catalonia, Cardona represented San Benito CF as a youth.[1] In 2014, he joined Atlético Sanluqueño CF, and made his debut for the club on 24 August 2014 by coming on as a second half substitute in a 0–3 Tercera División away loss against CD Alcalá.

Cardona appeared rarely for the first team during his first season, being regularly used with the reserves in Primera Andaluza. In his second, he was a key unit in Sanluqueño's promotion to Segunda División B, scoring a career-best 20 goals; highlights included a hat-trick in a 5–1 home routing of Sevilla FC C on 24 January 2016.[2]

On 29 June 2016, Cardona joined FC Barcelona, being immediately assigned to the reserves in the third division.[3] He made his debut for Barça B on 20 August, scoring all his team's goals in a 3–1 home win against Atlético Saguntino.[4]

Cardona made his first team debut on 30 November 2016, replacing fellow debutant Carles Aleñá in a 1–1 away draw against Hércules CF, for the season's Copa del Rey.[5] He made his UEFA Champions League debut six days later, as a 74th-minute substitute for goalscorer Arda Turan in a 4–0 home routing of Borussia Mönchengladbach.[6]

Cardona helped the B-side achieve promotion to Segunda División in 2017 by scoring 15 goals. He played his first match in the second division on 19 August of that year, starting and scoring his team's second in a 2–1 away win against Real Valladolid.[7]

On 19 July 2018, Cardona was loaned to La Liga side SD Eibar for one year, with a buyout clause.[8] He made his debut in the category on 31 August, starting and netting the equalizer in a 2–1 home win against Real Sociedad.[9]
