Marama Corlett is a Maltese actress and dancer, best known for her role as Rina in the 2012 television series Sinbad.

Biography

Marama was born and raised in Malta, as one of four sisters. Her father is from New Zealand, and her mother from Malta. She now resides in London. She is of Maltese, Sicilian and New Zealand heritage.

Career

Corlett originally pursued a dance career with the company Ballet Russ de Malt in Malta, before moving to England to further pursue her ballet career.[1]

Corlett's first professional acting role was in 2010 film The Devil's Double directed by New Zealand director Lee Tamahori. Marama went on to perform in the West End 2011 production of The Children's Hour, playing Lois Fisher opposite Keira Knightley, Ellen Burstyn, Carol Kane and Elizabeth Moss directed by Ian Rickson (Jerusalem) Keira Knightley.[2]

In 2011, Sky1 announced that Corlett would play Rina in the television drama Sinbad.[3][4] Corlett had to learn boxing in order to prepare for her role.[5]

Corlett appeared in feature films Desert Dancer alongside Freida Pinto and Maleficent with Angelina Jolie.
