Manuele Pepe (born Marco Ceramicola on 8 April 1961) is an Italian singer.

Biography

Pepe began his career in 1979, obtaining a record contract with the musical label Kangaroo, which released his debut 45rpm LP the next year.

Afterwards he moved to Dischi Ricordi.

He participated in the Sanremo Music Festival 1983 with Solo con te, but did not reach the final. The single however received a good reception in Germany.

In 1984 he participated in "A Disco For Summer" with Volerei.

In 1988 he released an eponymous album.

In September 2016, his 1986 single "Shadilay" became popular among internet users and 4chan due to the frog-related imagery on the label of the single and the name of the artist (which is the same as a popular meme, Pepe the Frog). Pepe was later tracked down on Facebook and confirmed that he was the one who wrote Shadilay and that it was about a spaceship.

In April 2017, he uploaded a live version of "Shadilay" to YouTube, being aware of the meme.[1]
