Manuel Retamero Fraile is a Spanish football head coach who is currently managing I-League side NEROCA FC[1]

Coaching career

Fraile began his coaching career at Real Betis before becoming the head coach of Villa de Simancas. He stayed at Simancas for one season. After that he worked as a head coach with Íscar and Real Valladolid B.[2] He also served as the technical director of Bahrain for a spell.[3]

Aizawl

On 17 August 2015, it was announced that Fraile would become the head coach of Indian I-League club, Aizawl.[2] His first goal was to win the Mizoram Premier League, which he achieved on 16 December 2015.[4] His first professional coaching assignment came on 9 January 2016 in Aizawl's first ever I-League match against the reigning champions, Mohun Bagan. The match ended 3–1 to the defending champions.[5]

On 7 February 2016, it was announced that Aizawl FC, the newbies of I-League, who have managed to amass only four points from their opening six encounters, have decided to part ways with Spanish gaffer Manuel Retamero Fraile midway into the season.[6]

Ulaanbaatar City FC

Retamero signed for Ulaanbaatar City FC in December 2017 after several other stops in Asia including India and Bahrain.[7]

During his one season at Ulaanbaatar City FC, the club compiled a 12W 2D 4L record, earning second place in the league. The team also eliminated Erchim FC, reigning back-to-back league champions at the time, in the semi-finals of the MFF Cup before defeating FC Ulaanbaatar [upper-alpha 1]in the finals to win the club's first major trophy in its brief history.

Following the season, Retamero was nominated for Men's Coach of the Year at the MFF's Golden Ball Awards in December.but ultimately missed out to Erchim FC's Zorigt Battulga.
