Mantophryne axanthogaster is a species of frog in the family Microhylidae. It is endemic to Papua New Guinea. Its natural habitat is lowland rainforest, cloud forest, and it can be commonly seen near streams.[1]

Description

It's dorsum (back) is brown, spotted with dark brown and venter (belly) is light gray, mottled with dark gray.[1]

Etymology

The species name axanthogaster suggests that the belly is not yellow which distinguishes it from its close relative M. louisiadensis with which it was formerly included.[1]
