B. N. Manjunatha Reddy was the 49th Mayor of Bengaluru. He was elected from Madiwala ward belonging to BTM layout assembly constituency from Indian National Congress party. He got elected as Mayor on September 11, 2015.[1]

Early life and family

Born on 22 September 1962 to a farmer family, Mr Reddy was brought up in Bommanahalli at Bengaluru, Karnataka as the third son to Late Sri. Narayana Reddy and Smt Lakshmamma. Manjunatha Reddy moved to Madiwala in his early teenage for his education and holds a Bachelor degree in Arts.

Career

  • Mr BNM Reddy became a NSUI Member in 1983.
  • Youth Congress President for Jayanagar Assembly from 1986-1988.
  • Elected as Youth Conggress General Secretary for Bengaluru during the year 1993-1994.
  • Elected as Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BMP) Corporator during the year 1996 and was also appointed as a Member of Accounts Committee during the same.
  • Mr Reddy was appointed as Recruitment committee member during 1998-1999.
  • Became a member of Public works committee of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) in the year 1999-2000.
  • Later, went on to become the Chairman of public works committee, BBMP in the following term.
  • Mr Reddy was appointed as the Secretary for Bengaluru Congress Committee(BDCC) during the year 2001-2003.
  • Elected as BBMP Corporator from Madiwala Ward-172 for the term 2010-2015.
  • He was appointed as a member of Town Planning Committee, during the year 2011-2012.
  • He was later appointed as a Member of Accounts Committee, during the year 2012-2013.
  • Mr Reddy was nominated as the Leader of Opposition - BBMP
  • Mr Reddy was elected as BBMP Corporator for the fourth time from Madiwala Ward-172, in the year 2015 and became the 49th Mayor of Bengaluru.

Currently B.N. Manjunatha Reddy is serving as the Corporator for Madiwala Ward and also as a Member of Bengaluru Metropolitan Planning Committee.
