Objectives

Short term (till end of 2017):

To bring awareness in people about purpose of life (bring another 10000 volunteers into self-less service in Manavata and inspire another 50000 people to take social responsibility)
To promote simple life style through leading by example (transform 5000 families to healthy life style)
To help needy wherever possible (help 500 orphans and disabled children, 100 patients for the critical surgeries)
To build principle centered leadership globally

Long term:

To bring sustainable rural development in 500 villages by 2030
To build sustainable model of social development where all beings can live together (Create at least 2 prototypes which can be easily replicated with low budget)
To empower people to build their confidence in leading eco-friendly living (to bring 20,000 families into Charity at home program)

Life goals (30 years): To change the economy and model of living to humanism

Origin and background

Manavata (originally called Chaitanya Bharathi Youth Association) was founded on 19 October 1991 by Srinivasa Chowdary Alluri, a social activist in Lolla, a remote village in the Godavari belt of the Andhra Pradesh state in South India. At the heart of Srinivasa's work was to eradicate social ills that he noticed around him in rural India: Sorrows, hunger, illness, premature death of children and the lack of direction to the young. The Sanskrit - Hindu epic, Bhagavad-Gita, has greatly influenced Srinivasa and the teachings inspired a path of selfless service. Manavata, in Sanskrit means "Humanity". The underlying philosophy for Manavata is: ‘Humanity is our identity’.

Evolution

As of 2015, Manavata has more than 8000 volunteers all over the world and has directly helped in the lives of more than 100000 people. Manavata is largely built around the good intentions of successful and professional individuals. 80% of Manavata volunteers are software professionals working in the United States, UK, Australia, Singapore and India. Manavata is registered as a charity in India (Reg. No. 3417/01), the UK (Reg. No. 1120315) and US (Reg. No. 000918874). In 2012 Manavata received consultative status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council(ECOSOC) which is the highest status granted by the United Nations to non-governmental organizations. On this occasion the founder Srinivasa Alluri was invited to speak in the 2013 ECOSOC high-level segment in Geneva. You will not find widespread coverage of Manavata in the media because the volunteers believe in service without expecting publicity.

Activities

Manavata runs several social initiatives in health, education, environment and humanitarian aid worldwide like:

Blood donation and health camps, Yoga camps, Residential care for poor/orphan children (Manavata Ashram), Anti-smoking campaigns, Disaster management (to the victims of natural calamities), Self-employment and Educational programmes for rural youth & women, Youth counselling & guidance, Environmental campaigns (pollution control and tree plantation)

Key Programs:

Blood Donation Program: A database of around 3000 blood donors on the Manavata website is listed area wise. The website enables posting for blood requirement and searching for donors. The Manavata Blood Donation helpline in India (Hyderabad) has benefited more than 10, 000 patients so far.
Charity at home: This initiative aims to promote best living practices (in line with 3H mission) at every home.^[2]
Cycling for Humanity: This is Manavata's most popular and visible initiative amongst even people not associated to the organization in anyway. In 2011 Manavata organised a cycling event from London to New Delhi Srinivasa Alluri, completed this journey and it took him through 14 countries, 11,350 km and 109 days non-stop. This earned an entry from the Limca book of records in India for 2013. More importantly it enabled Srini to interact with almost 500,000 people from across the world along the way and spread the 3H message of Manavata.^[3]
Charity together: Fosters collaboration with like minded organizations to provide self-less service.^[4]
Global Youth Movement: This was the founding initiative of Manavata originating from an understanding that youth remains the most vulnerable period of a person's life which can lead to wrong life paths and bad habits. A transformed youth is a transformed tomorrow. MAHE (Manavata Academy for Human Exclellence)aims at inspiring youth to build character & channelise their power towards development of the world. http://mahe.manavata.org
Orphanage (Manavata Ashram): Manavata Ashrams and Orphanages homes children by providing food, clothes, shelter and education with parental kind of care and affection. There are 4 Ashrams - 60 children at Hyderabad and Lolla, 45 blind children at Ramachandrapuram and 40 dumb and deaf children at Srikakulam. Sustainable Rural Development Program (SRDP): SRDP is a proven methodology to transform and empower villagers & help them to take care of themselves by imparting right knowledge and help them to achieve self-sustainability. Manavata's plan is to adopt 500 villages in next 3 years time for implementing SRDP. Currently 17 villages are following these methods. Manavata was invited to speak on this subject at United Nations View SRDP oral statement given at UN, Geneva
Healthy Living Camps: Manavata’s free Yoga, Meditation Camps and Healthy Living camps are held across the globe regularly and have helped thousands of people to improve their health, cure diseases and ailments, manage stress, develop peace of mind and understand the importance of nutrition and healthy eating habits. Ongoing schedules for these camps can be found on the Manavata website.
Help needy Patients (funding & co-ordination): Manavata provides medical aid for poor patients who cannot afford the cost of critical life-saving surgeries.
Manavata University: This is Manavata's latest initiative. Manavata is establishing this University for Humanity to bring true happiness through practice of self-less service and simple living in-order to achieve sustainable development by living together with nature. Land has been acquired near Hyderabad. Founding members have been identified. Construction is due to start soon.

Apart from implementing initiatives on its own, Manavata also provides a platform for individuals and organisations to take the 3H initiatives forward.

2008: Started Manavata Ashram in Hyderabad along with a Dumb and Deaf school in Srikakulam

2009: Age support and Health Centre/Homeopathy dispensary started in Lolla Ashram

2010:Cycling for Humanity event from Udaipur to Mumbai over 1000 km distance

2011:Manavata founder Srinivasa Alluri’s 'Cycling for Humanity’ event covering 11,350 km from London to Delhi and Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 109 days (also received Limca book of records).

Started Health centers in Kalluru, Khammam district.Rachapalli and Biccavolu East Godavari district
Started Zero budget Natural farming training in Andhra Pradesh for 400 farmers

2012:Received the prestigious UN(United Nations) accredited Organisation with ECOSOC special consultative status

Mumbai to Kanyakumari Cycling for humanity has inspired 10,000 people.
Washington DC to Boston Cycling for humanity

2013:Patna to Delhi Cycling for humanity, submitted school mid-day meal proposal to PM and president of India

2014:CSD setup (Center for Sustainable development) work in progress, health center initiation in Gangavaram and other two health centres in Hyderabad.
