Maleeka R Ghai is an Indian film and television actress born in Delhi. She is best known for her role as Gandhari in Ekta Kapoor's mythological drama Dharmakshetra[1] and also known as Saraswati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's romantic drama Saraswatichandra (TV series).[2] She is currently portraying the witch character of Bhadra Maa in the fantasy television series Chandrakanta[3] on Colors TV.
Early life
Maleeka R Ghai was born in a middle class Punjabi family in Delhi. She moved to Mumbai in 1993.
Career
She started her career in 1992 in her teens as an anchor in Sur Sargam for Doordarshan in Delhi; she moved soon in 1993 to Mumbai. She started her career with small roles, soon she bagged many movies like Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Hum To Mohabbat Karega, Heeralal Pannalal and Agniputra. Also she did ABCL's Mrityudata, which led her to theatre. She performed in plays like Timtim, Hello and Saraye as lead. She did parallel leads in TV shows like Mulk on Zee Tv and Zindagi Teri Meri Kahani on Sahara One.
In 2002 she decided to quit acting and got indulged completely into spiritual activities.
After nine years, she did a comeback in 2013 with a cameo role in Balika Vadhu, Punar Vivah[4] and an episode of Savdhaan India's Crime Patrol;[5] SuperCops vs Supervillains. Later she appeared in Desh Ki Beti Nandini,[6]Dharmakshetra, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi and Saraswatichandra.
