Mahua Moitra is an Indian Ex-investment banker[1][2] turned Politician of All India Trinamool Congress from the state of West Bengal. She is a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Karimpur.[3]

Education

Moitra studied in Kolkata at school level and later did her graduation in economics and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachusetts, United States. She worked as an investment banker for JP Morgan in New York City and London. She was a vice-president at JP Morgan before active entering in politics.[4]

Constituency

She represents the Karimpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) in Nadia district[5][6], in the state of West Bengal.

Political Party

Moitra was one of the trusted hand of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the project of Aam admi ka sipahi (AAKS). Later, she joined in All India Trinamool Congress.[4]

Controversy

After filing the nomination, the next day, Babul Supriyo filed a complaint against Moitra and AITC MPs Saugata Roy and Tapas Paul for falsely accusing him of being involved in the Rose Valley ponzi firm scam.[7] On 10 January 2017, Moitra filed a criminal complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Union Minister Babul Supriyo for allegedly insulting her modesty during a national television debate.[8]
