Mahali, Mahle, Mahili are an ethnic group in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Mahali are indigenous to the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.[1] They mostly reside in areas of West Bengal and Odisha near the Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand. Mahali people form a different tribe which is sometimes grouped together with the Munda tribe.[1] They speak the Mahali language, which is considered a dialect of Santali. [2] The language only had around 33,000 speakers in 2007. Mahali Surname is mainly Sahni. They are mainly belong to Bihar.
