H. D. Madhawa Srinath Thirimanna (Sinhala:එච්.ඩි.මාධව ශ්‍රිනාත් තිරිමාන්න) is a Sri Lankan short film director and producer.[1][2][3][4]

Early life

He began on school stages in 1999. He created his first school stage play called Unity, which was his own script. Thereafter he created many stage plays and participated to many school drama competitions.

Career

After Madhawa created his first stage drama to public stage in 2010, Kollaya.

Short films

Madhawa has started making short films in 2013.

  • Eternal love, a romantic short film written by him.
  • Awasanayata Pera (2014) This short film was written and directed by Madhawa in March 2014. It is a horror short film.
  • Dadayama: The Hunt (2014) This movie was a crime/thriller short film that he created in 2014 and presented at local and international short film festivals.
  • Silent Night: A short, silent film with a modern-day Romeo and Juliet tragic love story.
  • MAHI මහී: EARTH (2015) This short film dramatically showed the audience how people abuse mother nature.
  • The Soldier (2015) This story was about a Veteran Sri Lankan soldier who fort fought many battles against LTTEand then retired. Due to experiencing too many brutal incidents this soldier suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder (mental disease that infected many for veteran soldiers). Due to his illness he hallucinates war and he imagines that he is still fighting. Meanwhile, one of his best friends came to visit but the soldier hallucinated his own friend as a terrorist.The main role of this award winning film was highly acclaimed by many film critics was played by Dhanushka Nilaweera and the other role was played by Isuru Dilshan.

  • Merit award for MAHI මහී (EARTH) at Soba Chalana Sithuwam film festivel which conducted by ministry of mahaweli development & environment in 2016 - Sri Lanka
  • Special mention award for Soldier at CreActive International Open Film Festival (IOFF) 2016
