The Lyon Air Museum is an aerospace museum located on the west side of the John Wayne Airport in unincorporated Orange County, California, United States. The museum features military aircraft, rare automobiles, military vehicles and motorcycles, and related memorabilia, with an emphasis on World War II.[1]

Special Summer Car Exhibits

Each year Lyon Air Museum hosts its annual Summer Car Exhibit that features a select number of cars that are based off a specific theme. Each year has been a different theme.

The latest summer exhibit is Vintage Motor Racing: with a Special Tribute to Dan Gurney[10] featuring 9 vintage racing cars running from July 1 through September 3, 2018.

Bikes and Bombers

Bikes and Bombers is an annual bike show established in 2012, with 250 to 300 motorcycles. A contest titled "The People's Choice" chooses one bike owner to win a flight on a North American SNJ-6 Texan.[22] The event was originally scheduled for June, but, after wet weather, the event officially moved to August in 2017.[23]

Other major events

Lyon Air Museum every year features a line-up of various events that are hosted on-site or participate in. The line up is usually released annually and features between 12-15 events.[24]

Some events include: History on the Flight Line,[25] and Open Cockpit Day.[26]
