Lynn Chiavaro

Lynn Arturi-Chiavaro is a former basketball player and coach. She was head coach of Army women's basketball for 11 seasons.

Playing career

Chiavaro attended Northeastern University, lettered from 1973 to 1976, and captained the team. Former Northeastern men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun once rated Chiavaro as one of the best shooters he had ever seen. Chiavaro (class of 1977) is a member of the Northeastern University athletics Hall of Fame, inducted in 1984 for her excellence in basketball and lacrosse.[1]

In 1978 Chiavaro was drafted by the New York Stars of the short lived Women's Professional Basketball League.

Coaching career

Chiavaro became an assistant coach at Iona College during the 1981 and 1982 seasons before moving on to Army, where she was head coach for 11 seasons. She compiled a 132–160 record. Chiavaro is the longest tenured women's basketball coach in Army history.[2] [3]
