Luke Kleintank (born May 18, 1990)[1] is an American actor. He is best known for playing Finn Abernathy on Bones, Travis in the 2015 movie, MAX, and Joe Blake in The Man in the High Castle. He recently filmed Goldfinch, a Warner Brothers film to be released in 2019. His character in this novel based drama is Platt Barbour alongside Nicole Kidman who also played the part of his mother. He will star in Crown Vic alongside Thomas Jane to be released in 2018.
Early life
Kleintank was born on May 18, 1990 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, when he was 2, where he resided for three years, learning to speak English and Spanish simultaneously.[1] He spent the rest of his formative years in Stevensville, Maryland, where he resided for 12 years.[1]
Acting
Kleintank's mother introduced him to acting when he was 5. "She threw me into my first play, Carnival. Made a part for me", he recounts. "That's when I knew I wanted to act." He started doing plays and community theater, and took part in a number of stage productions while in high school.[1]
Luke attended a ProScout Talent Symposium in Philadelphia when he was sixteen. There were 400 aspiring actors present and 26 talent agencies and managers. Luke was targeted by over half of them, and ultimately chose to sign up with Innovative Artists. Kleintank went to New York City to pursue his acting career, and made his television debut as Greg in a 2009 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.[1] In 2010, he played a recurring role in Gossip Girl as Elliot Leichter, a bisexual love interest for Eric van der Woodsen.[1] After relocating to LA, Kleintank landed his first daytime role that same year, debuting as Noah Newman in The Young and the Restless on September 21, 2010;[1] however, he left the role after less than six months to play Chris on No Ordinary Family.
In 2011, Kleintank joined the recurring cast of the Fox series Bones, playing Finn Abernathy. From 2013 to 2014, Kleintank portrayed the recurring character of Travis in the ABC Family teen drama series Pretty Little Liars. In 2015, Kleintank was cast as Joe Blake in the Amazon series The Man in the High Castle.
Personal life
Kleintank enjoys whitewater rafting, singing, dancing, and writing music, and geocaching.[1] When not acting, Luke travels and spends time with his parents, three brothers and two sisters, and his ten nieces and nephews.
