Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi[1][2][3][4] is the apostolic nuncio to Canada[5][6] and titular Archbishop of Atella.

Early life

He was born on 19 June 1948 in Gazzaniga, Italy.

Religious life

He was ordained a priest by Clemente Gaddi on 30 June 1973. He was appointed titular Archbishop of Atella on 19 June 1999, and was consecrated on 26 August 1999 by Angelo Sodano.[7] He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See, on 25 March 1980. He served in the diplomatic missions of the Holy See in Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago, Malta, Mozambique, Spain, the U.S.A., and Italy, as well in Canada. In the past he has served as nuncio to Haiti, Cuba, Lithuania,[8] Estonia and Latvia. He was appointed the nuncio to Canada on 18 December 2013.

Education

He holds a Doctorate in Educational Sciences from the Salesian Pontifical University (Rome), and a Licence in Theology and in Canon Law from the Lateran Pontifical University (Rome).[9]
