Lucien Greaves (born Douglas Misicko;[1] also known by the pseudonym Douglas Mesner), is a social activist and the spokesman and co-founder of The Satanic Temple.[2][3][4] Greaves has appeared in numerous media outlets and has made televised appearances on the Fox News Network. He is a public speaker and essayist who has contributed articles to publications including Skeptic Magazine,[5] Skeptical Inquirer,[6] The Washington Post[7] and International Business Times.[8]

Early life and education

Greaves was born in Detroit, Michigan.[4] He graduated from Harvard University.[4]

Activities

Greaves' has provided commentary on social issues in numerous media appearances, including MSNBC, [9] NPR,[10] Huffington Post Live,[11] CNN,[12] Harper’s Monthly,[13] Time Magazine,[14] The Atlantic,[15] Vice,[16] Salon,[17] and Rolling Stone.[18]

Greaves has spoken on the topics of Satanism, Secularism, and The Satanic Temple at Universities throughout the United States,[19][20][21] and he has been a featured speaker at national conferences hosted by American Atheists,[22] the American Humanist Association,[23] and the Secular Student Alliance.[24]

The Satanic Temple

Greaves has been instrumental in setting up the Protect Children Project, the After School Satan project, and several political demonstrations and legal actions designed to highlight social issues involving religious liberty and the separation of church and state.[25][18]

Personal life

Greaves says he has received many death threats, and deliberately does not use his legal name, to avoid threats to his family.[4]
