Lorna Laidlaw (born 1 February 1963 in Birmingham) is a British actress and director. Laidlaw is known for her roles in the BBC television shows Doctors, Grandpa in My Pocket and Tikkabilla. Laidlaw began her career on television during 1994 with various guest star appearances in shows "Blue Heaven" before going on to have guest role appearances in further shows such as "Playing the Field" (2002), "Emmerdale" (2004) and "The Afternoon Play" (2006).[1][2][3] In 2009, Laidlaw began starring as recurring character Miss. Smiley in the children's television series "Grandpa in My Pocket".[4][5] Laidlaw however left the show in 2014.[6] Alongside these acting roles, Laidlaw was the host of the BBC show "Tikkabilla" from 2002 to 2007.[7]

Since 2011 Laidlaw has been playing Mrs Tembe in Doctors, she has also been nominated for several awards most notably she has been nominated for the category of "Best Actress" three years running under the British Soap Awards;[8][9][10] alongside these nominations Laidlaw has also notably been nominated for awards under the Inside Soap Awards for "Best Daytime Star" in 2016 and 2014,[11][12] the National Television Awards for "Serial Drama performance" in 2016[13] and also for the Royal Television Society award in "Best Actress" 2012 for which she was the winner of the category.[14] Laidlaw has also directed several episodes of Doctors.[15]
