Lophius gastrophysus, commonly known as blackfin anglerfish[1] or blackfin goosefish,[2] is a species of anglerfish in the Lophiidae family. It was described by Miranda Ribeiro in 1915. The species is found off the coasts of northern South America, Central America, Aruba, Cuba, and Costa Rica[1] as well as Gulf of Mexico[3] and the United States on the depths of 200–700 metres (660–2,300 ft).[1]

Description

The length of the species is 60 centimetres (24 in). The main difference between this and other species from the same genus is that it have black fin and black band under its fin.[4]
