Llugaxhi

Llugaxhi (in Albanian, pronounced [l-oog-aji]) or Lugadžija (Serbian Cyrillic: Лугаџија) is a village in Kosovo, located south of Lipjan.

The village was founded by the Reçica family who migrated from Molla e Kuqe ("the Red Apple"), an area between the cities of Niš and Leskovac. The name of the village derives from the word meadow , called in Serbian "lug" reason being that when Llugaxhi was first found the place was a meadow, and the "hoxha" (Imam) who were among the first settllers, combining to make the term Llugaxhi.

Many families now inhabit Llugaxhi, such as the Reçica, the Magashi, the Byqmeti, the Islami(subfamily of Reçica), the Tmava and others. Most Roads in Llugaxhi are named after family ancestors and war heroes from UÇK (Kosovo Liberation Army).

Llugaxhi is a medium sized village, around 12km squared in size, most of it being land for cropping and only a small amount of land is slightly urbanised. The oldest building is the mosque which is said to be around 100 years old[1], but there are plans for a new mosque in the north of the village [2].
