List of universities by number of billionaire alumni
Counting all degrees, Harvard University comes in first place in terms of the total number of degrees and the total combined wealth. If only the undergraduate degree is counted, the University of Pennsylvania comes in slightly ahead of Harvard.[1] 25 current billionaires received their bachelor's degrees at Penn, followed by Harvard University with 22 undergraduate alumni billionaires.
Harvard University also ranks first in the number of ultra-high net worth individuals with assets greater than $30 million, according to Wealth-X. The total number of wealthy alumni is nearly twice that of the next highest ranking institution, the University of Pennsylvania, and the total combined assets is nearly three times as large.
Among the billionaires who hold a tertiary-level degree, 42 percent graduated with a bachelor's degree, 26 percent have a master's degree, 21 percent finished their MBA, and 11 percent attained a PhD.[2]
The list is dominated by US universities with 16 of them making it to the top 20, including the first eight positions.[3]
